According to the standard schedule for making anime, there should be at least one full year between seasons. The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 3: Plot
Chise Hatori’s upbringing was difficult because her parents were mentally ill and abandoned the family. Since then, she’s been shunted from one unfriendly relative to another until she decided to put herself up for sale in the hopes that someone would take her in. Ultimately, she auctioned herself off, hoping that someone would adopt her. To her surprise, a mage named Elias Ainsworth whisks her away to another dimension and makes her his apprentice.
Chise’s true identity as a Sleigh Beggy, a magician who draws many types of magical animals, becomes clear at some point. Elias falls for Chise after a series of chance encounters, but Cartaphilus kidnaps her to end the curse on him. Elias promises Chise eternal love when she absorbs his immortality curse to counteract the dragon curse.
Using the dragon, everlasting curses, and maybe even some romance, we may expect her to advance through the academy ranks in season 3.
