The 2018 release of “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” was like a banquet of surprises for fans of the Spider-Man franchise. What should have been simply another animated superhero production is instead a creative feast of stunning graphics, innovative reimaginings of classic characters, and an intriguing storyline, all supported by a piece of great music and a magnificent variety of voice-acting talent.

While the release date for the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has been pushed back many times, fans have been kept entertained by the first teaser trailer and numerous cast announcements. The first trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part 1 has a lot of new footage. Over two minutes and thirty seconds, we witness Miles and Spider-Gwen reconnect, Miles struggle with Spider-Man 2099, teasers of some new comic book-inspired Spidey realms, and more.

The second installment’s trailer has arrived, so you may make your own opinion. This quick preview highlights recent happenings in the Spider-Verse, including returning certain fan-favorite characters and introducing fresh new faces. This new teaser for “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is filled with mysteries and minor things you might have overlooked.

Both Miles and Gwen have matured quite a bit in age

Miles and Gwen’s new looks, which show that a long time has gone, are another nuance in the teaser with enormous consequences. In the first film, they play children and are made to appear younger than the other Spider-Man incarnations. However, in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Miles and Gwen have been revamped to be taller and more muscular to match the age gap between the characters in those two films. Miles and Gwen haven’t only aged and updated their looks with new hairstyles and minor cosmetic adjustments.

Miles Webb Is Brooklyn’s De facto Spider-Man

Several scenes in the trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse include Miles Morales dressed as Spider-Man and swinging around Brooklyn, fighting crime and protecting the populace. After saving numerous people from being run over by a car, he is met with cheers and given a free hot dog as a gesture of gratitude. In other words, Miles has officially replaced Peter Parker as Brooklyn’s favorite Spider-Man. Miles has won over the hearts of New York City since his first multiverse adventure, but the return of Spider-Gwen will soon challenge his status as official Spider-Man.

All The Spider-Man Cameos

Hundreds of new Spider-Men varieties make cameo appearances in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. There are far too many Spider-Men to name them all, but a few stand out. There’s a scene of Spider-Man as a werewolf from Marvel Zombies vs. the Army of Darkness. In homage to his Fantastic Four costume from the comics, the teaser has Spider-Man donning a paper bag over his head. There’s also a Spider-Man in what appears to be an outfit from the Future Foundations era.

However, the trailer’s first glimpse of the Spider-Man world has the cameo that would prove to be the most significant. As the camera pulls back, it appears to show Spider-Man from the PS4 game strolling next to what appears to be Spider-Man in his Spider-Man: Far From Home outfit. Both people play significant roles, so seeing them is a big deal. It has been widely speculated that the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse cast would include cameos from both Tobey Maguire’s and Andrew Garfield’s versions of the character.

Spideys from throughout the multiverse make appearances

The teaser purposefully downplays the villains but makes up for it with a plethora of Spider-themed heroes. The trailer for “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” makes it clear that the abundance of Spider-people in “Into the Spider-Verse” was just a light warm-up, as it focuses heavily on returning characters while also highlighting the highly anticipated newcomers Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac) and Jessica Drew (Issa Rae).

The clip has dozens of Spider-people from other realms and identifying them all will keep fans busy for a long time, especially considering the depth of some of the cuts. Maybelle Reilly, the steampunk-influenced Lady Spider of Earth-803, is included. It makes sense that we’re getting a significant Spider-adjacent character like Miguel O’Hara.

How about Spider-Man, or Spider-Monkey, donning an outfit reminiscent of the Bombastic Bag-Man’s? An appearance by Spider-Man in his Spider-Armor MK II? The Spider-Man TV series from 1999 called “Spider-Man Unlimited”? It’s Spider-Man from the PlayStation 4 game of the same name. Annie and Mary Jane from the “Renew Your Vows” arc? They’re all here, along with a zillion more spinning webs and trading blows.

New gadget for Spider-Gwen

Spider-left Gwen’s wrist device is one of the trailer’s major “I wonder what that is” moments. As soon as she enters Miles’ world, the image above becomes visible.

So, what exactly is it? The trailer shows Gwen using what looks to be a time travel device to enter and exit the hexagonal orange portals that emerge across the Spider-Verse.

Later in the trailer, Spider-Man 2099, alias Miguel O’Hara, returns via one of these portals; he was voiced by Oscar Isaac in the post-credits sequence of Into the Spider-Verse and will reprise the role here. So, O’Hara is responsible for this time machine from the Spider-Verse? And has he given one to Gwen so she may see Miles and ask for his assistance in dealing with a new threat to the multiverse?

All indications are positive. O’Hara, like many previous Spider-Man incarnations, possesses a brilliant mind. Given that he lives in the year before the 22nd century, technology should have progressed so rapidly (by that time, anyhow) that he could find a means to jump between realities to fight any dangers to the multiverse. In the post-stinger sequence from Into the Spider-Verse, he is also shown sporting a gadget remarkably similar to this one, so we have little doubt.

A New Spider-Man Is Being Created

Miles and Gwen are shown together in one scene while a Spider-Man outfit is attached to a machine in the backdrop. The image quality is too poor to make out any specifics, yet there appears to be some significance to the technical invention seen in many shots of the same space. The suit’s heft suggests it was designed by Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099 or belongs to another, as-yet-unidentified Spider-Man. Given its size and color, it’s plausible that it has some connection to Venom, which is a more exciting idea.

Spider-Man India is one such person who may appear. After passing through one portal in the universe, Miles finds himself in a world that seems to have been sketched and colored using pencils. This is when Spider-Man 2099 snatches him, and as the two of them bounce around, the screen flashes with peculiar Hindi writing, much like the ‘Thwip’ word and other letters we saw in Into the Spider-Verse. Only Spider-Man India, if you will, would be fluent in Hindi.

Traveling to the universe of Spider-Man 2099

Another detail you probably should have learned was that we’ll be visiting Spider-Man 2099’s reality. The teaser ends with a quick shot of a number appearing on Miles’ wrist device right after O’Hara captures him before the scene cuts to another planet. The digit ‘928’ appears; this is the Earth-version from whence O’Hara originates. Earth-928 is a potential alternate future version of Earth-616, the primary reality of Marvel comics and literature. Here, humans and mutants wage a devastating civil war, in which humans ultimately triumph.

After the war, O’Hara decides to try and duplicate the Spider-Man formula, which leads to him gaining spider-like abilities such as spider-like strength, speed, endurance, enhanced healing, vision, the ability to shoot organic webbing from his forearms, retractable talons on his fingers and toes, and the ability to secrete paralyzing Venom from his fangs. We have a peek at O’Hara’s reality when he tosses Miles through another portal just before the teaser closes so that we will be going there at some point.

This time Bad Guy (villain) may be A Spider-Man

We are meant to be the good people,” Gwen Stacy states at the end of the teaser for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, to which Miguel O’Hara responds, “We are.” Together, this, with several Spider-Man variations engaged in combat, suggests a struggle among the Spider-Men, with one of them being the antagonist. Even though The Spot and a Vulture version have been confirmed for the sequel, they may serve as henchmen to the primary adversary in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which could even be Spider-Man 2099.

The Vulture and the Spider Woman

The clip features a pivotal scene in which Spider-Woman defeats an enemy with wings. Since this is a Spider-Man film, it should be no surprise that the villain is Adrian Toomes, nicknamed the Vulture, a classic adversary and a personal favorite of directors Sam Raimi and Jon Watts.

The clip features a pivotal scene in which Spider-Woman defeats an enemy with wings. Since this is a Spider-Man film, it should be no surprise that Sam Raimi and Jon Watts both like giving the villain large, menacing wings; that villain is Adrian Toomes, nicknamed the Vulture.

Given that Vulture was already the main antagonist in the most recent Spider-Man film, “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” it’s doubtful that he will play a significant role in this one. Since the first film, the habit of including cameos from Spider-famous Man’s villains also persists here.

What will the plot of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 be about?

The friendly neighborhood Spider-Man of Brooklyn, Miles Morales, is back for another action-packed adventure that will take him across the multiverse to link up with Gwen Stacy and a fresh batch of Spider-People to take on a foe more formidable than anything they’ve faced before.”

However, we know the sequel will only contain part of the plot because it will be a two-parter. It was decided to make two films because “Miles’ narrative is an epic,” Lord and Miller told EW in December 2021.

“We penned what we believed the tale to be and then discovered, to our dismay, that it required two films. We’re now occupied with both of them.”

Gwen has discovered a means to join Miles in his reality, as depicted in the teaser, and this might lead to further cameos from familiar faces in the sequel.

Who from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will be back for the sequel?

The original cast members will be back for the sequel, including Shameik Moore as Miles Morales and Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy.

After appearing in the post-credits sequence in the first film, Oscar Isaac has revealed that he will reprise his role as Miguel O’Hara, alias Spider-Man 2099, in the sequel.

Luna Lauren Vélez, who plays Miles’ mom Rio, has also said she’ll be back. Jake Johnson said in July 2021 that he would reprise his role as Miles’s tutor Peter B. Parker, while Brian Tyree Henry has confirmed his return as Miles’s father, Jefferson Davis.

It is said that Issa Rae may reprise her role as Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman in the next sequel. The Spot, a villain whose body is covered in gateways to other dimensions, will be voiced by Jason Schwartzman.

Additionally, it was announced in November 2022 that Daniel Kaluuya would lend his voice as Hobart ‘Hobie’ Brown, nicknamed Spider-Punk, while Shea Whigham and Jorma Taccone would reprise their roles as George Stacy and the Vulture, respectively, in the sequel.

Even though there have been rumors that Kathryn Hahn will reprise her role as Doc Ock, she has yet to be officially included in any cast lists or official announcements.

Conclusion

The funny glitch from Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, in which Miles is suddenly transformed into a patio heater that may then swing about the city, could make an appearance in the sequel as an Easter egg. At one point, we find Miguel engrossed in a holoscreen showing a pleasant moment between himself and a young girl named Gabriella.

While the release date for the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has been pushed back many times, fans have been kept entertained by the first teaser trailer and numerous cast announcements.

The next chapter in Miles Morales’ animated film journey is here. We can only hope it lives up to its predecessor in its unique way after the success of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse three years ago with its excellent comic book art style, emotionally engaging story, banging soundtrack, and unique spin on the popular superhero.
