Netflix will release One Piece Prequel Monsters 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation in January 2024

After the success of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece, fans are eager to join Luffy once more on his adventures. A prequel anime called Monsters 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation will provide another avenue into his world.

Monsters 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation Story

Monsters 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation tells the tale of Ryuma, an innocent swordsman thrown into chaos by an unthinkably destructive dragon force. At Jump Festa 2024 it was announced that Netflix will adapt Monsters as part of their expanding anime offering for release sometime this January; Monsters promises to add another dimension of enjoyment!

Oda himself drew the one-shot when he was just 19 years old, and it was published in the Shonen Jump Autumn Special issue in 1994. The series is set before the start of One Piece, and it hints at some of the Straw Hat Pirates’ ancestry. The story also features Freya, a girl who survived a town destroyed by a dragon, and fellow swordsman Cyrano.
